We consider the scattering amplitude associated to a Schröodinger operator with a short range potential at an energy which is a non-degenerate maximum of the potential. We prove an asymptotic expansion of the semi-classical scattering amplitude in this setting. We compute the phase as well as the leading order symbol in this asymptotic expansion. Our work is motivated by earlier asymptotic developments of the scattering amplitude by Vainberg, Guillemin, Yajima, Robert and Tamura, Michel, and Alexandrova. We principally consider a model with a Poisson random distribution of smooth finite-width flux tubes. We study the density of states of the Pauli Hamiltonian for this model and obtain classical bounds for the Lifshitz tails. This is joint work with J.V. Pulé (Dublin). On some spectral problems of mathematical physics
The article contains a brief survey of some spectral problems of mathematical physics that have been arising recently in optics, mesoscopic systems, quantum chaos, and other areas. In particular, problems of photonic crystal theory, waveguides, and quantum graphs are addressed. This text is a modified version of the lectures delivered at the Pan-American Advanced Studies Institute (PASI) on Par...
متن کاملCoherent Control of Quantum Entropy via Quantum Interference in a Four-Level Atomic System
The time evaluation of quantum entropy in a four-level double- type atomic system is theoretically investigated. Quantum entanglement of the atom and its spontaneous emission fields is then discussed via quantum entropy. It is found that the degree of entanglement can be increased by the quantum interference induced by spontaneous emission. The phase dependence of the atom-field entanglement is...
متن کاملDynamics and scaling in models of coarsening and coagulation
Clustering phenomena occur in numerous areas of science. This includes condensation at the nanoscale in condensed matter physics, smog and cloud formation in aerosol physics, processes of stellar and galactic clustering in astrophysics, random graph theory, and merging of lines of descent in ancestral trees. Some basic models of coagulation and aggregation take the form of rate equations for cl...
متن کاملStability of additive functional equation on discrete quantum semigroups
We construct a noncommutative analog of additive functional equations on discrete quantum semigroups and show that this noncommutative functional equation has Hyers-Ulam stability on amenable discrete quantum semigroups. The discrete quantum semigroups that we consider in this paper are in the sense of van Daele, and the amenability is in the sense of Bèdos-Murphy-Tuset. Our main result genera...
متن کاملVoltage-Controlled Entanglement between Quantum- Dot Molecule and its Spontaneous Emission Fields via Quantum Entropy
The time evolution of the quantum entropy in a coherently driven threelevel quantum dot (QD) molecule is investigated. The entanglement of quantum dot molecule and its spontaneous emission field is coherently controlled by the gat voltage and the intensity of applied field. It is shown that the degree of entanglement between a three-level quantum dot molecule and its spontaneous emission fields...
متن کاملModeling the evolution of cells outgrowth due to the force exerted by actins
Motility and membrane deformation are crucial to motile cells. Therefore formation of protrusion in the membrane has been the subject of various studies. The stable shape of the membrane and also its movements are controlled by the forces exerted by actin filaments. In order to study the protrusion behavior, we represented a toy model based on actin filaments polar characteristic and elastic ch...
